Medical Weight Loss for Men & Couples
Sustainable lifestyle changes are the foundation for long-term success
What Is Medical Weight Loss?
Medical weight loss involves much more than prescription medications. It includes, the guidance of a medical professional, considers your unique history, and combines practical lifestyle changes to enhance your quality of life.
Your Weight Loss Journey:
As men age, their tendency to accumulate visceral fat (belly fat) also increases, which places them at risk for heart disease and other comorbidities. The journey to lose weight is a personal endeavor and we understand that it can be challenging for most. We recognize that weight loss is not just for women ~ men face similar challenges that often go unnoticed.
Our Nurse Practitioner-led medical weight loss programs integrate the use of several compounded medications to supress the “food noise,” as well as other clinically proven techniques, such as lifestyle changes to help you lose weight.
Our approach has shown promise in helping with weight loss and reducing the risks factors associated with being overweight or obese. We offer several non-stimulant weight-reduction medications that not only boost weight loss but can help increase lean muscle mass, potentially offering a healthier and more sustainable approach to weight management.
Candidates for Medical Weight Loss:
Our Medical Weight Loss Programs are designed for individuals who:
- Have a BMI over 25
- Have struggled with traditional weight loss methods and need guidance in their weight loss journey.
- Looking to maintain muscle mass.
- That are serious about making healthy lifestyle changes: diet management, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, and stress reduction.
- Are looking for long-term, sustainable solutions that focus on overall health and wellness.
If you are struggling to lose weight, consider lifestyle changes, like a balanced diet, regular exercise, and addressing emotional factors. If lifestyle changes aren’t enough to achieve or maintain a healthy weight, then medical weight loss might be an option.
Weight Loss Medications:
GLP-1s: This class of medication are called glucagon-like peptide 1 agonist; they mimic the effects of natural hormone GLP-1 in the body:
Compounded Sublingual Semaglutide
- Convenient and eliminates the need for injections.
- Suppresses appetite and reduces food intake.
- Slows Gastric emptying, which prolongs satiety.
- Enhances insulin secretion while reducing glucagon release, potentially slowing gastric emptying.
- Improves glycemic control, leading to weight loss.
- Cons: May lead to gastrointestinal issues.
Liraglutide (Saxenda)
- Slows gastric emptying and increases satiety.
- Binds to the GLP-1 receptors in the brain leading to decrease appetite and food cravings.
- Cons: Requires daily injection; potential side effects gastrointestinal symptoms and increase risk of pancreatitis.
Non-GLP-1s: These medications operate through various pathways:
Tesofensine: is a triple monoamine reuptake inhibitor, meaning it affects the reuptake if neurotransmitters involved in appetite regulation and metabolism. It aids with weight loss by supressing appetite and increasing resting energy expenditure (basl metabolic rate), making it a promising candidate for weight loss. Studies show that a combination of tesofensine and lifestyle changes are similar to that seen in gastric surgery. This medication is also safe for long-term use.
Lipotrophic Plus Injections: are a unique blend of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, including MIC, B Complex, B12 & L-Carnitine. Includes all od the benefits of the MIC injection plus additional metabolism support. Each compound plays a key role and aims to enhance fat metabolism, boost energy, and supporting weight loss when combined with a healthy lifestyle. This is an intramuscular injection that can be given 1-2 times per week.
- Methionine. This essential amino-acid and antioxidant removes free radicals, burns fat, removes metal deposits, and improves digestion. It can also help build muscle mass and make you feel more energized.
- Inositol. This lipotropic improves metabolism and helps break down cholesterol. It can also improve your mood and reduce your risk of heart attack.
- Choline. This essential nutrient is needed for proper liver function. Choline produces hormones that improve metabolism rate and removes fat from the liver.
Our Weight Management Protocol:
NPeak Health Services weight management protocol is a nurse practitioner-supervised program designed to help any individual reach his or her weight loss goals. This weight management protocol utilizes the combination of the following medications:
Sermorelin Acetate: is a scretagogue that stimulates the natural production of human growth hormone (HGH). As we age, HGH declines, making it harder to build lean muscle mass and burn fat. Benefits of Sermorelin:
- May stimulate the pituitary gland to produce more growth hormone.
- Increased growth hormone can increase the development of lean muscle mass.
- Higher growth hormone levels may reduce body fat through lipolysis.
- May also enhance sleep, improve insulin sensitivity, repair tissue, and boost sex drive.
Naltrexone
- May help decrease insulin levels which can improve growth hormone levels in patients.
- May help normalize appetite and reduce hunger.
- In some studies, it has been shown to reduce general inflammation throughout the body.
Lipo-TRIM SL
- A concentrated oral spray including a combination of amino acids and B vitamins.
- May aid in converting fat into energy.
- May help reduce cravings making maintaining a low calorie diet acheivable.
Health Benefits: Maintaining a healthy weight is critical for overall wellbeing. Being overweight or obese can increase the risk of many health problems, including diabetes, heart disease, respiratory illnesses and certain cancers. Losing weight can alleviate specific issues impacting quality of life. Studies have shown, that 5-10% of weight reduction leads to significant health benefits. So, when considering weight loss, an initial goal of 5-10% is considered modest but an achievable goal with notable benefits.
Clients can expect a positive, encouraging environment where we celebrate your successes and support you through your setbacks. A three-month commitment is recommended for notable changes in total body weight. This timeframe provides the opportunity to incorporate regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, and behavioral changes that can lead to sustainable weight management and long-term health benefits.
